Hunter Henry, formerly of the Los Angeles Chargers, has agreed to a three-year contract worth 37.5 million dollars with the New England Patriots.
Henry was one of the best tight ends on the open market. He, along with newly signed Patriot Jonnu Smith, now make up perhaps the best tight end duo in the NFL. The Patriots always seem to work better when they have two dominant tight ends. Think Gronkowski and Hernandez back in 2011.
The Patriots did attempt to do this last offseason when they drafted both Devin Asiasi and Dalton Keene in the middle rounds. Both players failed to put up any kind of production, so the Patriots went out and bought two new tight ends instead.
Henry, Smith, Nelson Agholor, and Kendrick Bourne are four new weapons for Cam Newton to work with. Belicheck was clearly unhappy with the offensive production last year and he has made drastic strides to try and improve it.
