A few short days after releasing both of their starting tackles, Kansas City and former New England guard Joe Thuney agreed to a contract worth 80 million over the next five years.
Thuney was perhaps the best offensive lineman on the open market this offseason. He was linked to the Cincinnati Bengals and New York Jets most notably.
It’s absolutely remarkable how Kansas City, after signing quarterback Patrick Mahomes to a 500 million dollar contract, is able to work the cap enough to sign a player of Thuney’s caliber to such a high-priced deal.
Either way, Thuney gets to block for Mahomes for the next five years as the Chiefs look to continue their reign atop the AFC.
