EPL Unfiltered: Week 20
Welcome back everyone. We have a lot to get through for week 20. Seven matches, five of them kicking off at 10:00am EST on Saturday. Two more on Sunday and one on Monday. Arsenal just pumped a struggling Brentford on New Year’s Day and I am ready for the new year. Not holding anything back now. Just do it.

Tottenham v Newcastle United – 7:30am EST
I would love nothing more than for Spurs to get absolutely cooked at home to begin the new year and to open up their second half of the season. Since losing to Brentford 4-2 on 12/7, Newcastle have been on a revenge tour. 4-0 on Leicester, 4-0 on Ipswich, 3-0 on Villa, and then on Monday, a stomping at Old Trafford for United, 2-0. Newcastle have worked their way up to 5th in the table, just one point above Manchester City and three points back of Chelsea. They are absolutely flying right now. Spurs on the other hand, went 1-2-4 in December and just drew the second worst team in the league, Wolves. But hold on. This is one of those spots for Spurs where you think they are absolutely cooked. I can feel it. Saturday morning, we’re all going to be watching during the 85th minute, sitting there like “How in the world are these Spurs up 3-1 right now?”
Manchester City v West Ham United – 10:00am EST
Well well well. They let City get to January with a win. I told you all that the season starts for City in January. We ended 2024 with a win, we got the Mo Salah Christmas picture Chelsea are starting to drop points and United begin the year in 14th. HAHAHAHAH. You thought it was over for us? You think Liverpool are safe with a 14 point lead at the top? Haven’t you all learned your lesson before? Don’t be surprised when we go on a little run here. I wont take West Ham seriously until they buy a real striker. CITEH CITEH CITEH!
Aston Villa v Leicester City – 10:00am EST
For some reason to me, this game is a must win for Aston Villa. It just feels like they are struggling at the moment. 8-5-6 on the season and sitting in 9th place at the halfway point, a win on Saturday would see them shoot up to 6th or 7th place depending on other outcomes. Villa have to go out there and take care of business. You can’t go out and drop points to teams at the way bottom of the table. Especially can’t drop points to an extremely mid Leicester side. Leicester have not won since 12/3 and I am still demanding them to sign a real striker. Sounds familiar right? This game will be a womping, probably by three or four goals.
Bournemouth v Everton – 10:00am EST
Yeah the Brexit brand of football is cool and all. Who doesn’t love the art of defending and being a strong defensive side? But that doesn’t win you games. That’s why Everton have been stuck in the bottom of the table for like 4 years now. They’re 3-8-7 on the season with 17 points and they need some help. Their attacking players stink. Their midfield stinks. I don’t see a world where Everton wins this one. The last time these two teams played in August, Everton were up 2-0 in the 87th minute if you remember that. They lost the game. Fast forward to now, Bournemouth are 7th in the league and Everton have won three games since August. Bournemouth are just the better team. That is really what it comes down to. They went 3-3-0 in December and I don’t think this is a spot for them to slow down now. If Bournemouth are serious, you take care of business. And I think they will. This is the beginning of the end for Sean Dyche.
Brighton and Hove Albion v Arsenal – 12:30pm EST
Brighton can’t buy a win at the moment. They haven’t won a match since 11/23 against Bournemouth. Four draws and two losses in the month of December. Almost worse than City in that stretch. Brighton forced a draw last time against the Gunners in August. But I don’t know. Arsenal went down to Brentford on Wednesday and responded with 3 straight goals to round off a good performance. They’ve managed to make Gabriel Jesus good again and all it took was for Saka to get injured. Really makes you think. Is Saka bad for this Arsenal team? Is he holding back the players around him? We’ll see. Real ball knowers stand up for me. Lean Arsenal.

Liverpool v Manchester United – 11:30am EST
Womping. 6-0 Liverpool. Thanks. I will be there. Come outside.
Monday, January 6, 2025
Wolverhampton v Nottingham Forest – 3:00pm EST
Forest are absolutely flying right now. 11-4-4 so far this season, five wins in their last six matches, including wins against Spurs, Villa and United. The only other team performing like this is Liverpool (Forest lost to City 3-0) and I believe it will not stop now. I need Forest to absolutely destroy this sorry Wolves team. I am desperate for it. Wolves lease in the league will finally be up. I had really high hopes for them when they were first promoted back to the league. But they are trying to become another Crystal Palace and we do not need another. Give me three Forest goals and a clean sheet. We will be there.
