Jaxson Dart: QB1 of the 2025 Draft Class?

To all the true ball-knowers out there, you’re probably already aware of this – but Jaxson Dart will be the QB1 of this 2025 draft class. Now I want to give a little bit of a background check on myself before diving into this. I am not a college football analyst, I didn’t have a favorite college team until this year, and I have never been one to hype up college athletes before they made a name for themselves in the big leagues outside of one occasion; Mike Evans. Some could say that I’m shooting 100% from the field I guess?

As a bettor, I obviously have my attention drawn to teams that are fun to watch. In late August, I happened to randomly scroll through the betting lines and saw that Ole Miss was playing against Furman with their team total set around the low 40’s. That immediately caught my eye and I threw a little bit of coin on it for some action – Ole Miss dropped 76 points and I had found what is arguably now my new favorite player in all of football.

I’ve watched a ton of football both at the professional and collegiate levels. You can get the vibe of a quarterback in particular after watching a game or two. Jaxson Dart is a dog. The thing about Dart that makes him so good is that he’s seemingly great in all aspects of the quarterback position. The arm talent is by all means league ready. He’s got the arm strength to stretch the field and has the pinpoint accuracy to seal the deal on the big plays. He’s smart with the ball and doesn’t force throws (6 turnovers all season), so the ball security is also checked off the list of worries. He’s a great runner when need be and loves to be the one to lay the hit-stick which hypes up the guys around him, but he doesn’t lean on this too much like other guys who have this capability may do.

The biggest things that stood out to me about Dart is his pocket presence and leadership. When you watch Dart play, he’s sneakily elusive in the pocket but it’s a fluent motion. His feet aren’t going a mile a minute panicking; it’s almost as if he knows where the defenders will be and he’s just stepping out of their way. Even when he’s got a 275 pound lineman running full speed at him, he’ll get the ball to his receiver with no care in the world about getting absolutely decked (remind you of a certain NFL quarterback yet?). Every good quarterback you watch in the NFL plays like they have the game under control, I believe Dart will follow in those footsteps.

As for his leadership, I think it’s unmatched by any other top rated QB that will be picked above him. He’s gotten nothing but praise from his coaches, teammates and everyone in the Ole Miss facility basically. He literally got multiple starters on the team who had already declared for the draft to want to play in their bowl game just because he had committed to it and wanted to leave Ole Miss with a win. He went on to get hit a shit ton of times in that game against a blitz heavy Duke squad, but he didn’t care about the potential injuries hurting his draft stock. He left his mark with a bowl win and another 400 yard passing game with 4 touchdowns.

I will say it now and have this forever as a form of written proof, Jaxson Dart is a smaller version of Josh Allen and whoever drafts him is getting an absolute steal. From the arm strength and ball placement to the running and contact tendencies, all aspects of Allen’s game has been brought into Darts’.

Don’t be surprised if we see Dart go off the board in round 1 come April. Now the question is, who may be the lucky team to get him? I think I may know a current head coach who had some success with Josh Allen a few years ago as his OC…
