EPL Unfiltered: Week 25
Fellas. Ladies. It has been a while. Please come in. We are finally back in the Premier League this weekend. We are finally all on the same page. Every team now is finally on match week 25. Liverpool and Everton have played their makeup game from months ago and now we go. They tied 1-1 by the way, the gap is only 7 points. I believe Arsenal fans owe Everton a thank you? For the one time. I’m excited to be back with you all. Where should we start?

Leicester City v. Arsenal | 7:30am EST
The mighty Arsenal ladies and gentlemen. No Havertz, no Martinelli, no Jesus, no Saka. Raheem Sterling, your time is now. Your career tour of all the big six teams is going to get tough this time around with Arsenal. It looks like you’re up, buddy. It would be a miracle if this Arsenal attack scores a goal this weekend. The Gunners will have to win this game solely based on keeping a clean sheet. Honestly, if I was Arsenal, I would be on top of the world if they come away with at least a point. Knowing Arsenal though, since Liverpool dropped their make up game to Everton, Arsenal is also going to drop points. Then their fans will put the referee under a microscope and probably accuse the referee of being a Liverpool fan or a missed red card for Leicester that is clearly not a red card. Just be prepared for a couple hours of unbearable complaining from the red side of London. Leicester, please score.
Manchester City v. Newcastle United | 10:00am EST
I need Manchester City to win this game like I need air. I want nothing more this weekend than for my club to show me some signs of competence. I miss the old City. These guys still have the stink of Kyle Walker on them I think. I am actually shaking to see what type of defense Pep throws out there to stop Isak. I want the Dias and Stones partnership back in my team. I want KDB back in the middle with Foden. Savinho and Maramoush on the wings. I NEED IT. Both teams have the same record so far and the same goal differential, 5th and 6th. The winner may jump Chelsea depending on what happens in their match on Friday against Brighton. Regardless, this will be the best match of the day. Doesn’t matter if it is 10am on the east coast, crack a beer and enjoy this match with me. I expect some fireworks for this match but not too much. City has an away fixture to win at Real Madrid on Wednesday to focus on.
Fulham v. Nottingham Forest | 10:00am EST
I see the potential with this match. If you remember from the last match week, Forest bent Brighton over and scored at will, 7-0. That same day, Fulham came from behind to beat Newcastle 2-1. I’m not saying Fulham are absolutely going to win this game. But I would actually not be surprised if it comes down to a late goal to beat this Fulham side. Fulham’s defense has been pretty decent so far this season. At 9-9-6, Fulham are looking at a top ten finish this season. If they can find a run of form and start stacking some wins together, Fulham could challenge for even higher in the standings. But it is very hard to do when all of your goals come from 47 year old Raul Jimenez. He’s their top scorer at the club with nine goals on the season in the Premier League. Forest on the other hand look pretty legit. I’ve had some doubts about their defense throughout the season. And I don’t think I’m wrong for having those doubts, it’s just when a club overachieves in this league, it’s hard to take them serious. But they may be serious. A win on Saturday puts Forest at 50 points through 25 games. Keep in mind, if Arsenal find a way to lose against Leicester on Saturday morning, Fulham may go level on points with them with only goal differential separating the two sides.
Aston Villa v. Ipswich Town | 10:00am EST
Ipswich Town try to look competitive challenge level: Aston Villa. These guys are so done for. There is no hope for them. 3-7-14 on the season and there is not another win in sight. I can almost guarantee it. 90% guaranteed. This team is going to head back down to the Championship next season and all of their half decent players will be sold to teams like West Ham and Everton. This may be the last time that I willingly cover Ipswich and I am truly happy about it. Aston Villa, please come forward. What will all of these loan players do for you? Perhaps using the Chelsea formula and using two different squads for Champions League and the Premier League just in a more financially responsible way? Makes you wonder. Rashford in on loan, Asensio in on loan, Disasi in on loan. I expect two of those guys to be in the starting lineup for this match and I might just say that one of them will score. I don’t know who but whoever does I will definitely take the “I told you so” walk on X when they do. I am going to try to be nice to Ipswich here. 5-0 Villa final.

Liverpool v. Wolverhampton | 9:00am EST
Sorry, Wolves.
Tottenham Hotspur v. Manchester United | 11:30am EST
The Battle of Mid. Regardless of the outcome, the winner of this match will still stink. A win here will change nothing. As a big six rival myself, the hate watch this game is going to fill in my soul is incredible. Personally, I get to wake up, watch Wolves get absolutely battered at Anfield and then I get to make fun of whoever loses this game at 11:30. It is beautiful. Spurs have no defense, United have no defense. Spurs have no midfield, United have no midfield. Knowing these two teams, this game will finish 2-2 or some sort of draw. Neither team has what it takes to hold a lead at this point in the season and I am hoping for both teams to lose. But that is not possible, so I will be content with a draw. The narrative that either of these teams could get relegated is dead because the bottom four teams as just so god awful that they are safe. Let’s finish off the weekend with a banger and let’s hopefully smash an over.
