EPL Unfiltered: Week 27
I just want to start out by saying that I genuinely do not care about people flaming me for rolling over for Liverpool now that City is so far out. You see, when you’ve been at the top for so long, you need a reset. City needed a reset this year. We’re going to get it. Also, Liverpool may be our rivals on paper, but there is no solidified hate for each other. These last few years have been very entertaining and both teams pushed each other to be the very best. It is just so happens that City were the best six out of the last seven years. Now it’ll be out of eight years. But there are two teams that every Manchester City fan should hate no matter what: Manchester United and Arsenal. That is it. Cry me a river.
This match week is occurring during the week so the games will be evenly dispersed between three days being Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Now I will say that West Ham United are hosting Leicester City on Thursday but that game is going to be so so bad to watch that I don’t think it is worth it to break down. I love you West Ham but no thank you. Let’s begin.

Crystal Palace v. Aston Villa | 2:30pm EST
First of all, I am here to admit that I am not moved by Villa’s performance against Chelsea on Saturday. Not convinced. Realistically, if Villa didn’t have Rashford and Asensio, they would have lost that one or even tied. They probably really should have tied if Chelsea had a competent goalkeeper. I mean, the game winner hits the guy and then just rolls under him into the net in the 89th minute. Chelsea played well enough for the tie. Depending on the result of the Chelsea-Southampton game tomorrow, Villa could go into 4th place in the league after playing one more game than the rest of the league. They could be on 45 points on the season and looking really good. But listen to this, 3rd place and 9th place are only separated by seven points. And then Fulham is a point behind 9th. Any of the teams in between could finish anywhere. Name of the game is points and I just think Villa will have the edge here. There are no Premier league games at the weekend with the FA and Carabao Cups being played so Villa have a long break before their round of 16 tie in the Champions league next Tuesday so they can just put the foot on the gas in this fixture. Give me the Villa.
Wolverhampton v. Fulham | 2:30pm EST
Ok. I didn’t think that it would come to this but here we are. Since Liverpool couldn’t give me what I required when facing Wolves, I asked for Bournemouth for that same favor. Now, since Bournemouth couldn’t give me what I required from them, I am asking for the best team in London for that same favor. Fulham, I am begging you. I need a womping like you have never seen before. I truly do not know if you guys have it in you, but I am still putting you on this list. I am desperate. I just need one team to answer the call when their time comes. Fulham can crack the top eight with a win with some help from elsewhere but that’s besides the point. Fulham, if there was one time that I needed you to be great, now is the time. Fulham also need this one. They just got embarrassed by Crystal Palace over the weekend 2-0 at home. What a great time for a get right game. London is white.
Brighton & Hove Albion v. Bournemouth | 2:30pm EST
On paper, this is a top 10 matchup. On paper, this is six against nine. On paper, these two sides are only separated by three points. Real baller knowers know, Brighton are not a good team. They had such high expectations this season and there was a lot of buzz around the club. But it hasn’t panned out that way. Brighton just had a cakewalk last weekend against Southampton. They won 4-0. And honestly, if you don’t win by at least four against that piss poor team, you should consider it a loss. So I am not going to sit here and tell you that Brighton have turned it around. But on the other hand, Bournemouth just lost to rat piss Wolves. And they got shut out. And they got a red card. And they were the home side. Don’t even watch this one. You get a free pass this week to take off from pretending to care about Bournemouth until they win again. This game will be in the parlay.

Tottenham Hotspur v. Manchester City | 2:30pm EST
Just put the three points in the bag, Spurs.
Nottingham Forest v. Arsenal | 2:30pm EST
Oh, Aura FC. Oh, Corner FC. Oh, phase six Arteta-ball. What is the excuse this time? It was West Ham. They’re 16th place. Remember when you lifted the “We beat City” trophy a couple of weeks ago? Stay humble. They will now have to play a not up to speed Ben White back at right back this game after that kid’s red card last weekend. And all I am going to say is the Forest front three are going to have a field day on that side of the pitch. Even if Arteta counters with Timber on the right, he will still have to play Calafiori on the left, who is a liability. Regardless, Forest will feast. Three goals minimum. Chris Wood just might bang a hat-trick with the way he’s been going. Forest have had a rough run of games lately. Lost at Bournemouth, won against Brighton, lost at Fulham, lost at Newcastle on Sunday. They will need some points to continue the top four charge and with a win, they will close the gap to second place Arsenal to just three points. Remember, Arsenal are playing scrubs up top. They are cooked. Maybe not though because Forest’s defense is god awful. Who knows. Let’s take the under. Risky.
Liverpool v. Newcastle United | 3:15pm EST
Liverpool just beat Manchester City 2-0 at the Etihad and Newcastle just beat Forest at home 4-3. It shouldn’t have been 4-3 but that’s alright. A win is a win. This will be a good test for Liverpool. When these two played most recently, they tied 3-3. Of course in this one I will be throwing my support behind Liverpool for City’s top four bid’s sake. It’ll be a clash between two of the Premier league’s top goal scorers in Salah and Isak. At this point in the year, it is just a sit and wait for Liverpool to win the league. It should be a bumpy road to get there but it should be theirs. Usually when these two get together it is a great game. There is a reason why this game is kicking off last on Wednesday. Let’s take the over. End of preview.
