Nottingham Forest- 1 v. Manchester City- 0
Was Pep’s wife really the tactician this whole time?
Liverpool- 3 v. Southampton- 1
Someone has to say it. Is Mo Salah a penalty merchant? This guy is constantly up against inferior defenders, rolls around in a stinker for 60 minutes, and then converts a penalty to cover it up. This is a common occurrence in the Premier league this season. I mean, for a guy that is getting Balon D’or shouts on the timeline, he has really been saved by his team teeing him up on penalties to boost his stats against terrible teams. Mickey Mouse trophy.
Brentford- 0 v. Aston Villa- 1
I don’t know what has happened to Villa but their games now are just so boring to watch. It could be my bias because I have banned them and would like to shun them if I could but it was a standalone game yesterday so I had no options. This game was a snooze fest from the opening kickoff. You really didn’t miss much if you couldn’t catch this one. Brentford dominated possession and really felt like they were dictating the game. Shot attempts and shots on target were pretty even. Ollie Watkins just made one count and it got Villa over the finish line. Brentford were threatening heavily towards the end but they just weren’t able to make it through. I was really rooting for the draw here. Villa now sit in 7th place on 45 points with having played an extra game than those around them. I think Villa are really going to give City and Chelsea a run for their money at the top four race. I don’t know where Brentford go from here. They’re turning into another Crystal Palace. No improvement, just here for the vibes, ruin a big six’s weekend here and there, and finish anywhere from 12th to 8th.
Wolverhampton- 1 v. Everton- 1
Here I am. Once again. I am so ashamed to be in this same spot again. Who can I trust with this task? I thought I knew these teams. Is it too much to ask? Am I being unreasonable? I do not know how Wolves keep surviving this challenge. I will be honest here. Besides the last ten minutes of the first half, the rest of the game was awful. Both of these teams looked unmotivated. Jack Harrison opens the scoring in the 33rd minute and Wolves respond in the 40th. That’s it. We’ll have to wait for a suitable competitor because Wolves are away to Southampton and if there is any team worse than Wolves in this league, it is Southampton. Tisk.

Tottenham Hotspur- 2 v. Bournemouth- 2
This game was a thriller. A Spurs team with no Son or Maddison in the lineup is a Spurs team praying to lose the game. And that was exactly what happened. Bournemouth went up 1-0 through an outstanding counter attack, started off by Milo’s Kerkez in his own half. This guy will 100% be picked up by a big six side in the summer. But if I was Bournemouth and I was serious about being a top half of the table regular, there is no way that I would let him leave. Definitely not in the summer. Mull over the options and see where you are by January and then make a decision. Bournemouth then went up by two but it was immediately cancelled out by a Pape Sarr shot. And I would be a fool to not mention the fact that Son and Maddison both came on before Spurs were able to generate anything close to attacking football. Good old Sonny won his side a penalty in the 84th minute after a crazy challenge from the Cherries’ keeper, Kepa. Son finds the back of the net and Spurs claim a point. Bournemouth needs to clean up the back line in order to run with the big dogs again next season.
Manchester United- 1 v. Arsenal- 1
Manchester United had us in the first half. And quite frankly, in the second half as well. For the first time in a long time, these guys looked like they actually knew how to play football again. Bruno hit that short free kick right before the halftime whistle to put United up 1-0 and from there it looked like they were in control. But they weren’t. Arsenal claimed 68% of the possession and United looked pretty dangerous on the counter attack when they got the ball back. I was fully convinced that United would do enough to hang on for the three points but Declan Rice came and saved the day. That goal was in the 74th minute and after that it was back and forth attacking until the very end. Both teams were extremely close to finding the winner but neither team has a competent attacking player on the pitch so the chances fell short. When the mutuals are talking about how easy the title races with Arsenal, the fans of the Gunners don’t believe us. This is the third year in a row that these guys are pretty much burnt out by the turn of the new year. Three consecutive seasons of coming in second place. Unless Forest have something to say about it. I cannot wait for the quadruple.
