EPL Unfiltered: Week 35

The clock is ticking. After this weekend, we only have three more weeks together. What a season. I’ll save it for the last one of the season. There’s still time on the clock so we have to remain focused. There is still champions league football to play for next season. Manchester City will be there. We’re still hunting Arsenal for second place. We can. We must. We will.

Manchester City v. Wolverhampton | 3:00pm EST

Thanks for coming out, Wolves. Leave Cunha on the way out.

Aston Villa v. Fulham | 7:30am EST

This game does not really mean much. Villa needs to keep the momentum going into this one if they want to make a charge here for playing in champions league next season. Currently on 57 points in 7th place, they would need to leapfrog over Chelsea and Forest to claim that right. Forest played Brentford on Thursday and lost 2-0 so that is a start. Chelsea have the champions this week so it could very well be possible. But Fulham should really be on a two game win streak coming into this weekend but they let Chelsea stage a comeback two weeks ago but they bounced back last week against the worst Premier league we have seen in our lifetime. Villa on the other hand have nothing left to play for but placement. They got thumped last weekend against Crystal Palace in the FA cup, so they are now out. They lost to Manchester City last time out in the Premier League, so this week is really going to make or break their season I believe. If I was a betting man, I would take the over.

Everton v. Ipswich Town | 10:00am EST

Ipswich Town look competent challenge level: David Moyes’ super team.

Arsenal v. Bournemouth | 12:30pm EST

I want nothing more than for the Cherries to walk into the Emirates and just absolutely unload on these aura farmers. These guys don’t want to win the league. They are focused on the champions league mountain that they have to climb on Wednesday. They do not want to win this one. Perhaps, we may even see a cameo from Raheem Sterling. Is that guy still playing? What’s up with that? Bournemouth needs to get their attack back up and running and what better time than this weekend against an Arsenal team who will surely rest their starters for the midweek matchup, right? Surely Arteta wont mess this up. I believe in them. But not really. Another trophy less season for the gunners. I am running out of way to make fun of them so I really need a successful, double hate watch this week. Make my week, I dare you Mikel.

West Ham United v. Tottenham Hotspur | 9:00am EST

The ultimate battle of the mid. Now, I know what you are thinking. I say this almost every week. But I am for real this time. These guys are so so bad, it’s not even funny at this point. It’s just sad. It’s sad for football. Sad for their supporters using their hard earned money to watch these guys play every week. I know that Spurs are battling in the Europa league and have a foot in the door for that final, but come on man. Get it over with and fire Ange. Just do it. I have seen both United fans and Spurs fans both asking on X if they should fire their managers if they win the Europa. Only problem I see is if they face each other in the final. Could we see a manger playing for their job-off? I wouldn’t mind it. I would much rather have neither of them lift the cup but if that is the only option and which it does look probable, I will settle for the loser fires their manager. You can’t lose the Europa league final and finish that close to the relegation places. West Ham have no hope so I am not expecting anything from them for the rest of the season. They’re safe anyway, what’s the point? Take the over.

Chelsea v. Liverpool | 11:30am EST

Will Chelsea set the tone for the finale of the weekend and lay over for Liverpool with a guard of honor? If you’re a Liverpool fan, you’re probably expecting the rest of your opponents this season to fulfill the guard of honor. But if you’re a Chelsea fan, you better not be giving these guys anything. A top six rival coming into your home and you have to embarrass yourself in their presence? Disgusting. No thank you. With that being said, Liverpool I need you to absolutely beat the brakes off these guys and put five past them on Sunday. I need this to add fuel to the sack Maresca fire that has been rumbling around on X for the last couple of weeks. Chelsea are on 60 points and in 5th place. They’re safe for the weekend and cannot drop from there. But come Monday, Forest are traveling to Crystal Palace for a chance at overtaking that final champions league place in the table. Chelsea may put up a decent fight in this one. In October, Liverpool came out on top 2-1 and I am expecting a similar result. It will be like boys attempting to play against men. Liverpool are already champions and they will probably come out slow but it will not matter. They will come out on top. Book it.
