Candi’s Top 32 QBs in the World
These are the best 32 active quarterbacks in the world right now…that is the criteria. Let me walk you through this top to bottom.
TIER 1 – GOD TIER
1. Patrick Mahomes
2. Josh Allen
3. Lamar Jackson
4. Joe Burrow
This is the most boring part of the list, not much to debate here. Can we move on please?
TIER 2 – I’d Still Chop Off My Right Nut for One of These QBs
5. Jalen Hurts
I would not consider myself to be a Hurts truther, but he has now solidified himself as a top 5 QB.
6. Justin Herbert
We all know Justin Herbert is a tier 1 talent, and you want to think the “hE cAn’T dO iT iN tHe PlAyOfFs” narrative is just complete and utter bullshit, but it gets to a point where it becomes extremely hard to defend.
7. Jayden Daniels
Best rookie season of all time. Just 1 year ago, CJ Stroud was prematurely forced into the top 5 conversations after his historic rookie season. This feels different, and I don’t want to force anything, but at the same time I can’t justify him being any lower than 7.
8. Matthew Stafford
Anyone who thinks Stafford doesn’t belong in this tier simply does not know ball. Nothing pissed me off more during this offseason than Stafford and Rodgers being placed in the same boat. Call me a salty Jets fan, I don’t care Every single GM would prefer Stafford…it isn’t close!!!
TIER 3 – I would still Pay $40+ Million.
9. Jared Goff
Top 10 in every way that matters and was a top 5 QB last season. Lives in the shadow of Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown but Jared Goff elevates his offense exponentially, I would easily pay him $40 mil.
10. Brock Purdy
The heart and soul of my QB tree. As a Jets fan, I would have paid Brock Purdy $50 mil. Brock Purdy is not a system quarterback. And last year he figured out how to use his legs as well. The biggest support for the system QB argument was thought that if Sam Darnold looked competent in a 49ers jersey, then it must be the system. Newsflash…Sam Darnold is just fucking good!!!! Did you see the 49ers this year without Brock Purdy…it was painful to watch.
11. Baker Mayfield
Absolute DAWG!!!!
12. CJ Stroud
Second year slump although performed well in the playoffs this year. I think this is the correct spot and I’d still lean Stroud over Love.
13. Jordan Love
Not a Jordan Love truther and I think his contract is insane…but I’d still pay $40 mil.
14. Dak Prescott
I think because Dak, when healthy, is a top 10 talent you’d have to pay $40 mil but I wouldn’t feel great about it.
15. Kyler Murray
I’d pay $40 mil depending on the team. I don’t think Kyler elevates a team to becoming contenders but he can lead a Super Bowl caliber team to…the Super Bowl.
16. Tua Tagovailoa
Health obviously a concern but the Dolphins without Tua this year…it was borderline unwatchable. Before this season, I think the vast majority of fans would have said Tyreek is more valuable to his team than Tua, myself included. But clearly that is not the case. Not sure if maybe Mike McDaniel just sucks at building plays for quarterbacks not named Tua, but regardless, I’d pay Tua $40 mil.
TIER 4 – Solid Starters
17. Aaron Rodgers
I think many people would be shocked to find Rodgers in the bottom half of starting QBs but I would not pay him $40 million anymore. The amount of 1 possession games the Jets lost needs to be studied, and Rodgers can stand there and throw all of his teammates under the bus but at some point, you have to admit that you don’t have it anymore.
18. Drake Maye
I am proud to have him backing up Brock Purdy in my dynasty league and in my QB tree as well. He will make the Patriots not horrible again.
19. Bo Nix
Veteran rookie QB. Great dude…better football player.
20. Trevor Lawrence
Remember when he was in the top 5 conversations….gross. Because of the talent I can’t put him any lower than #20 but I would not pay $40 mil.
21. Sam Darnold
Sam got snubbed in the CPOTY voting, I don’t think some of the voters knew if they were even allowed to vote for him. In my opinion, overcoming playing for the Jets and the Panthers is worse than any injury.
22. Caleb Williams
We saw flashes. I can’t place him higher just yet but I’m confident he’ll be a tier 3 guy at the same time next year.
23. Geno Smith
Sorry the Jets also almost ruined you too. Geno is still a capable starter in the NFL and I think any somewhat competent QB throwing to Brock Bowers will have success.
24. Bryce Young
Seemed hopeless after being benched from Andy Dalton…but Bryce Young somehow managed to finished the season looking confident and the Panthers, despite having few offensive weapons, looked not terrible.
TIER 5 – Exciting Rookies and Gross Starters
25. Cam Ward
26. Michael Penix Jr.
27. Jaxson Dart
28. Jameis Winston
Peak Jameis is why we love football. No one wants to see Russ start over Jameis, I don’t know why the Giants hate their fans.
29. Derek Carr
Gross.
30. Kirk Cousins
If he can still convince a team that he’s worth upwards of $30 million…
31. Russell Wilson
Also gross.
32. Justin Fields
Gross but as an unbiased Jets fan he definitely deserves to be on this list. Honorable mention to J.J. McCarthy who was #32 before the Jets signed Justin Fields.
Other Honorable Mentions:
Tanner McKee, Joe Milton III, and Joe Flacco who were close to making the list. Love you all.
